Do you own a home or building that was constructed prior to the early 1970’s?  If yes, it is VERY LIKELY that the exterior walls of your building have NO INSULATION!  In those days, energy was cheap and little concern was given to insulating homes and small commercial buildings.

So how do we insulate that historical bed and breakfast, or attorney’s office, or whatever it is you have?  If the exterior siding of your home is wood or vinyl, we can insulate from the outside of the building.  For brick veneer construction, we insulate from the interior of the structure.

EXTERIOR METHOD:

We drill 2” holes, every 16” in the walls, approximately 12” above the floor line.  We do this all the way around the perimeter of the building.  A 1” tube is inserted into the hole and pushed to the top of the wall.  The empty void is densely filled with superior Cocoon cellulose insulation.  For voids with horizontal bracing, a second hole is drilled near the eave.

After the void is densely packed with insulation, the hole is plugged with a wooden plug and caulked.  Paint is matched or the vinyl siding replaced.

EXTERIOR METHOD YOU-FINISH DISCOUNT :  If you are about to paint or install siding on the outside of your building, Bird-Family Insulation offers a lucrative discount because we do not have to “cosmetically finish” the plugs.  Vinyl siding companies up-sale many mis-informed siding buyers by selling an “insulated siding” product.  At best these products provide R-3 of insulating (non)-performance for astronomical prices! Instead, use Bird-Family Insulation to Drill & Fill your walls at our You-Finish low price and enjoy REAL ENERGY SAVINGS OF R-13 AND THE QUIETEST HOUSE ON YOUR STREET.  Then call the siding installers.

INTERIOR METHOD:

When the structure has a brick exterior, insulation is installed from the inside of the building.  Furniture, appliances, etc are moved away from the exterior walls.  We drill 2” holes, every 16” in the walls, about 12” above the floor.  Cocoon cellulose insulation is pumped into the empty wall cavity until densely packed.  If horizontal bracing is found, a second hole is drilled in the same cavity, a few inches from the ceiling.

After the voids are filled with premium Cocoon cellulose, foam plugs are caulked and inserted into the hole. The wall surface is finished to your complete, enthusiastic satisfaction.

Interior walls and attics in medical, law, or shared offices and suites benefit from the incredible sound deadening qualities of cellulose.  Bedrooms, bathrooms, hobby rooms, etc benefit as well.  See the links section of our website for the university studies regarding the superior sound-deadening qualities of cellulose.

INTERIOR METHOD YOU-FINISH DISCOUNT:  If you are about to paint or re-finish the interior of your pre-1970’s (construction date) building, make a WISE and INFORMED decision.  Call us to insulate your walls and make that building much more energy efficient, incredibly more quiet, AND more resistant to insects, rodents, mold and mildew.  When you do the finish work, YOU SAVE BIG TIME.
