Frequently Asked Questions

Do your employees communicate fluently in English?

Yes! All of our employees speak fluent English, and all of them have English as their first language. We are all born Americans.

When can I contact you?

Our office number is 404-538-9168. You can call or text anytime. All calls are recorded. Office hours are Mon-Fri, 8 AM - 5PM, and that’s when we return calls, etc. Email us at Savannah and Bob each monitor that email address for you!

Do you work on Saturdays?

Not generally; only for special cases.

How do you protect our floors?

We use canvas drop cloths throughout your home.

Do your vehicles leak oil in my driveway? If yes, who is responsible to clean up the stains?

At this writing, not any BFI trucks or machines leak oil. However, if something we are driving develops a leak without us knowing it, and drips oil on your driveway, we will pay to have the small stain removed.

Are your staff fully trained and qualified installers?

Yes! Each crew is fully trained, and most of our job-sites have a BPI (Building Performance Institute) certified foreman managing the job for you.

Do you perform background checks on your employees?

Yes! Even though these men are good friends outside of BFI, we realize that it’s important for our clients to know that we have no smokers, and everyone has passed a thorough criminal background check, and drug screen.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, we carry $1 million in contractor’s general liability insurance. We have workers comp insurance on everyone in our company. Our vehicles are insured with $1 million coverage.

How does the quoting process work?

Once you schedule your free evaluation with Savannah in our office, your assigned Comfort Pro arrives at the appointed time. He will thoroughly evaluate your home with regard to the issues you mention. Both of you will sit at your kitchen table and discuss a common-sense solution to the issues discovered from his evaluation. Your proposal is penned right there, as you participate.

How much time should I set aside for the appointment?

All houses are different. Generally, you can fit your appointment into one hour. If there is a lot to evaluate, and both of you talk quite a bit, it may take longer!

How far do you stay booked out?

On average, we stay scheduled out about 1 week. Exceptions occur, so ask about your convenient dates!

Do you require deposits?

Generally, we do not ask for a deposit.

When is payment due?

Payment is due when we present your invoice, on the day that your job is completed.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Personal checks, cash, credit cards. On qualifying jobs, we offer 12 month, same-ascash financing. As for credit cards, we accept Master Card, Discover, Visa, & Amex.

Why do you ask for my Email address?

We use your email address to send you courtesy reminders of your appointment(s). We also stay in touch, sending you an occasional announcement with regard to our services that are relevant to you. We never share our client information with anyone!

Are there rebates or tax credits available if I hire you?

Rebate programs come-and-go, as do tax credits. For current, up-to-date information on tax credits, you need to speak to a tax preparer professional. As for rebates, they would be provided by your electric utility provider; ask them.

Do you use sub-contractors?

We have our own trucks, insulation rigs, and men (employees). It would be very rare for us to use a sub-contractor. If that needed to happen on your project, we would discuss it with you before we arrived at your home. Even then, we would have a Bird Family Insulation foreman personally managing the job-site.

Learn About Our Four Step Quote Process

1. Brief call with your Comfort Pro, Chris Bird.
2. Send pictures to Chris.
3. Follow-up phone call with Chris, for estimate.
4. Site visit by Chris.

Description of each step:

Step 1 - Your initial conversation with Chris will establish if Bird Family Insulation is the right company for your project. We are experts at getting existing homes more comfortable & healthy for homeowners. We also know, after 20 years of business, when we won't be a good fit; and the last thing our family wants to do is disappoint you. Before you hang up, Chris will give you some homework!

Step 2 - From your talk with Chris, your homework is to send a few pictures of the area(s) you are needing help with. Use your phone, take the pictures, and text them to Chris. Be sure to include your name in the text!

Step 3 - After receiving your pictures and doing some preliminary research, Chris will call you to have a more specific discussion - so that he can arrive at your estimate. Depending on your project size, this call may take 20 minutes or so.

Step 4 - When you're agreeable with the estimate, and ready to move to the 4th step, Chris will come to your home for his site evaluation. Although he's reviewed your pictures, usually there's this "thing" that was missed or unseen, and it's always best to nail down all of the specifics, so that you & Chris arrive at an accurate quote that includes everything you want. He'll accept your 20% Down Payment and you guys will choose your job-date!
